71st Venice Film Festival – Abel Ferrara and Willem Dafoe’s Pasolini
After the great anticipation and with high expectations, the day came for the screening of Pasolini by Abel Ferrara. The film, presented in competition, sees Willem Dafoe in the role of beloved and highly contested poet, writer and director Pier Paolo Pasolini. A much talked-of movie that naturally divides critics. Perhaps risky, even poetic, Pasolini is in competition for the Golden Lion. Presented out of competition was Burying the Ex, the zom-com (zombie comedy) of visionary Joe Dante with a cast of promising actors: Twilight vampire Ashley Green, Alexandra Daddario and Anton Yelchin. At the Venice Days, it was the day of I Nostri Ragazzi by Ivano de Matteo starring Alessandro Gassman, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Luigi Lo Cascio and Barbora Bobulova and young Rosabell Laurenti Sellers and Jacopo Olmo Antinori, a story that puts parents to the test with the sins of children.
