Don Winslow presents Savages – From the book to the film by Oliver Stone

Born in New York on Halloween night, Don Winslow has noir in the genes. The 59-year-old writer and screenwriter, known to the general public for his novel “Savages” on which is based Oliver Stone’s eponymous film with Blake Lively, John Travolta, Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro, is at Courmayeur Noir Festival to receive the Raymond Chandler Award, the highest Italian career award for a master of the genre. We met him on this occasion and during a long chat we asked him to tell us about the genesis of this novel and, more generally, about his work as a writer, and how his over-the-top characters and his stories so fit for cinema come to life.
