Venice Film Festival 71 – The Winners
The 71st edition of the Venice Film Festival came to an end with winners and losers. To receive the Golden Lion is Swedish director Roy Andersson, for the poetic film A Pigeon Set On A Branch Reflecting On Existence. The Silver Lion went to Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky for a film which was very difficult to produce, interpreted by a non-professional actor titled The Postman’s White Nights. The Coppa Volpi for best actor and actress went to Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher for their intense performances in Hungry Hearts by Saverio Costanzo. The Grand Jury Prize went to Joshua Oppenheimer for the brave documentary The Look of Silence. We spoke with winner Roy Andersson and jurors Tim Roth and Carlo Verdone.
