Christopher Makos – “Altered Images” of the underground New York scene

Andy Warhol described him as “the most modern photographer in America.” He was so stunned by the photos of this young photographer that he gave him the artistic direction of his book “Exposure.” That moment marked the beginning of their friendship and artistic collaboration, the rest is history. From June 12 to August 3, 2014, Christopher Makos is in Milan, at Galleria Sozzani, with “Altered Images”, a selection of 62 photos having the feeling of New York’s excesses at the turn of the 1970s and 80s, that you “felt” on your skin. We can now relive that New York through these shots portraying the main figures of that period, contemporary art icons such as Andy Warhol and leading exponents of the punk and rock scene such as Iggy Pop, David Bowie or Blondie’s Debbie Harry.
